Dominion GardenFest of Lights

Each year, Dominion Virginia Power and Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden team up to host the Dominion GardenFest of Lights. The garden is transformed with twinkling Christmas lights as the far as the eye can see arranged into a variety of patterns, displays and even animals. Last year’s theme was bicycles, in a nod to the bicycle heritage of the greater Richmond area. Bicycles were used in conjuction with the lights to create a variety of glowing displays throughout the property. My husband and I visited in January, right after the New Year’s holiday, and had a great time. I think my favorite displays were the animals, especially the blue elephant, but it was neat to see all of the different bicycles arranged in different ways. This year’s theme is “H2Whoa,” featuring different forms of water. I can only imagine what the light displays will look like. The GardenFest is definitely worth seeing and fairly inexpensive. It’s $12 for adults, $11 for seniors, $8 for children 3-12 and free for children under 3. Definitely check it out!
